In some recent turn of events, some of the players of the Indian team got contacted by Covid-19 virus.
Veteran Indian opener Shikhar Dhawan recently tested positive for COVID-19 along with six other members of the squad of the Indian team ahead of their home series against West Indies. On Thursday (February 3), the left-hander thanked his fans for showing their support and love. Among the players, Shreyas Iyer, Ruturaj Gaikwad and Navdeep Saini have also tested contracted the virus and are under isolation. As of now, as a replacement Mayank Agarwal has been added to the squad for the ODI series.
India is supposed to play a three-match ODI series which will follow a three-match T20I series against the West Indies starting from this Sunday(February 6). All eyes will be on Rohit Sharma as this series will be his first task as the full-time ODI skipper for the Men in Blue. He is also likely to take up the role in Test cricket. However, there has been no official confirmation regarding the same.

Meanwhile, Dhawan, who is one of the popular and active cricketers on social media, took to Twitter to thank his fans and well-wishers for the love and support that he has received after testing positive for the virus. Dhawan was in terrific form in the recent tour to South Africa where he finished as India’s highest run-scorer, smashing two half-centuries in three games.
