IPL Auction 2022 Live Updates
This was easily the most action packed session of the first day of the IPL 2022 Auction. With the new auctioneer, some crazy stuff took place and some of it was even expected.
Deepak Chahar went for 14 Crores! Kishan went for even higher but Umesh Yadav remained UNSOLD! Prasidh Krishna can thank Rohit Sharma for letting him pay in the 3rd ODI against West Indies as that sure added up to his value-adding areas.
Lord Thakur sold to Delhi for 10.75 Crores, which for some reason felt less for him. Just Lord Shardul things!
Sanjay Bangar | RCB Head Coach: “Very excited and happy for Harshal. He was always in our scheme of things. He has been critical to our plan and getting him back for the performances he had put in, has been important for us. Had we retained hm, we could have gotten him for 9crores, but we wanted to see the strategies of the new teams as well. We spent extra on him, but we wanted to see who retains whom. Chahal and Hasaranga have been critical for us. People who come early in the lot, you go after them. Punjab, RR and SRH have a bigger purse left and that’s where price dynamics come in. That’s why we wanted Hasaranga, who could bat at seven and who bowls leg-spin. DK can deal with pressure and finish games. For the guys batting ahead of him, he gives them a great deal of security. He’s good value for us at six with his attitude.”
Manoj Badale | RR Owner: “It’s been a pretty dramatic morning. It’s been a busy morning. We’re pretty pleased with where we’re at. We’ve got a gun batting lineup now. We like Devdutt Padikkal because he plays spin particularly well and fills that number three slot, with Sanju batting four this year. Shimron Hetmyer is a player we’ve admired for many, many years, and he has that real ability to play pace and spin at the back of the innings. So we just need some bowlers now. I’m pretty pleased with (Ravichandran) Ashwin. We were expecting him to go for a lot more than that. So that’s a real scoop. We just need to get some leg spin and some pace, otherwise we’ll have to get Warnie (Shane Warne) out of retirement (chuckles).”
Ishan Kishan (on Social Media): “Really excited to be back at MI. They have treated me like a family.”
Ishan Kishan auction story:

We are looking at a squad of 22, and we have a lot of work to do. We were very keen on Faf and are delighted to get him for 7 crores. We have a number of younger players we’ll be looking to get.”

David Warner Sold for 6.25 Crores INR to Delhi Capitals
We are witnessing some daylight robbery here in Bengaluru as David Warner has been bought in a steal deal for just 6.25 crores. I know ‘just’ is a word that should not be associated with crores we are talking about Warner here! Mumbai was interested but could not move past.
Former South African skipper Faf Du Plessis sold to Royal Challengers Bangalore for 7 Crores INR! He’s age is 37 but we are maybe looking at a skipper here for RCB.

KKR was looking for a skipper and I think they have secured one in form of the talented Indian batsman Shreyas Iyer. So far the biggest buy of the IPL 2022 auction.
The IPL 2022 Auction has started and with what a bang. First Up With the marquee players, Indian opener Shikhar Dhawan was sold to the Punjab Kings for a whopping 8.25 Crores. The auspicious coconut was broken by the Rajasthan Royals who were in the bidding war for the southpaw. But Punjab it is for Gabbar this time around.
Off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin was bought for an amount of 5 Crores by the Rajasthan Royals. He would be now playing with Jos Buttler who does not share good memories with Ashwin if you can recall the Mankading incident.
Pat Cummins went to his old franchise Kolkata Knight Riders for an amount less than what he has got in the past- 7.25 Crores INR.
South African paceman Kagiso Rabada went up North to the Punjab Kings for a big amount of 9.25 Crores INR.

Apart from Australian batsman David Warner, who was the Player of the Tournament in the T20 World Cup, all-rounder Mitchell Marsh, who was the Player of the Final, has also listed his base price at ₹2 crore.
