Veteran Indian Off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has decided to take a break from the ongoing IPL 2021 to support his family and closed ones in these tough times. As the Covid-19 cases in India continue to rise, Ashwin announced his decision after Delhi Capitals’ victory over Sunrisers Hyderabad in Chennai, which is also his hometown.
Delhi Capitals finished their Chennai leg of IPL 2021 with this game and will now travel to Ahmedabad for their next set of matches.
Ashwin, in his tweet, also said that he “expects to return if things go in the right direction”. However, it is pretty clear that he will miss majority of the remaining part of the IPL 2021. This is because protocols for any player joining the bio-bubble after leaving it once will require them to have a period of quarantine in the hotel before entering the bubble again.
I would be taking a break from this years IPL from tomorrow. My family and extended family are putting up a fight against #COVID19 and I want to support them during these tough times. I expect to return to play if things go in the right direction. Thank you @DelhiCapitals 🙏🙏

Adam Zampa, Kane Richardson also withdraw from IPL 2021
After Ashwin, Australian bowlers Adam Zampa and Kane Richardson have decided to pull out of IPL 2021 because of personal reasons, Royal Challengers Bangalore confirmed on Monday (April 26). The pair will be unavailable for the remainder of the tournament.
