As we all know, IPL 2021 had to be suspended mid-way due to an outburst of Covid-19 cases even inside the bio-bubble. Some important players like Varun Chakrawarthy, Amit Mishra and W Saha got infected with the dangerous virus.
The BCCI is taking care of all the arrangements of the travel relating concerns of the both the domestic and international players.
Though the central board is looking at several other windows to complete the IPL, it will be interesting to see if the circumstances in the country allow it. Meanwhile, a group of English counties has proposed the invitation to BCCI to host the remainder of the IPL 2021 in September.
It has been reported by various verified sources that the English clubs such as MCC, Surrey, Warwickshire, and Lancashire, who are all based at Lord’s and Edgbaston (Birmingham), Emirates Old Trafford (Manchester) have written to the England Cricket Board (ECB) regarding the same matter. All the mentioned names have reportedly written to ECB inviting them to extend the opportunity to the BCCI. The plan stated that IPL 2021 would be wrapped up in two weeks in the month of September.
England Seems to Be The Better Option for Staging the IPL 2021
Now, experts believe that hosting the remainder of the IPL 2021 in England is a better option as doing the same in India is almost off the charts seeing the current conditions.
Secondly, IPL 2021 can be an excellent platform for the teams to get match practice before the T20 World Cup that is supposed to happen in India later this year.
Also, the T20 World Cup will also most likely be shifted to the UAE. So, back to back fixtures might just slow down the pitches and make them unfriendly for the World Cup.
