Royal Challengers Bangalore expectedly have yet again managed to assemble a brilliant team on paper for the upcoming IPL 2021. The Men in Red have spent a lot on interesting overseas buys in the IPL 2021 Auction held in Bangalore on Thursday.
The team lead by Virat Kohli needed some power hitters and some game-changing all-rounders, and the franchise has exactly managed to get them in the IPL 2021 Auction.
IPL 2021 Auction: New Additions for RCB
The team yet again entertained off-field to by engaging in some tight bidding wars. One of which was for the Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell. It was really riveting to see Maxwell getting sold to RCB for a massive amount of Rs 14.25 Crores! The surprising thing here is that the Aussie had the worst season of the IPL last year and still teams like Chennai Super Kings were bidding quite intensely for him.
RCB then went for a young Indian batsmen Mohammed Azharuddeen and Rajat Patidar at their base price of ₹20 lakh, as well as experienced southpaw Sachin Baby for the same amount.
The 3-time IPL finalists also bought New Zealand all-rounder Kyle Jamieson for ₹15 crores after a battle with the Kings XI Punjab. Jamieson has established himself as one of his country’s best Test players, and averages 56.5 with the bat and 13.27 with the ball in the longest format of the game.
Dan Christian was one more foreign addition to make his way to RCB, going for ₹4.8 crores after a superb season with the Sydney Sixers in the Big Bash League. RCB also snaffled Goa batsman Suyash Prabhudessai and wicket-keeper KS Bharat at their base prices of ₹20 lakhs.
