IPL 2020: Rohit Sharma Reveals About Hardik Pandya’s Fitness

Hardik Pandya

Mumbai Indians are the table toppers this season and they looked so right from the start. Hardik Pandya has been an integral part of this match winning and dominant side. However, the Baroda all-rounder has not been seen playing in the last two games.

When asked about Hardik’s fitness, Rohit Sharma, the MI skipper, cleared all confusions regarding this issue. He told that Pandya is absolutely fit and fine and the reason for his absence from the side was to give others a chance. As we all know, Mumbai had already qualified easily last week. So, the management thought that it would be no harm to try out new players and give them a chance before the very important Play-off matches.

Rohit also confirmed that the stylish batsman would return before the play-offs.

“Fitness-wise he is fine. We just wanted to give him a break and give the other guys some opportunities but I am sure he will be ready for the playoffs.”

Rohit on Mumbai’s Loss by a Big Margin Against SRH

The skipper also acknowledged that their loss against Sunrisers Hyderabad was one of their worst performances in their IPL history. Although, the match did not matter much for the men in blue, still, no would like to end the league stage with a loss as big as that.

When asked about Boult and Bumrah’s absence from the team making a difference, Rohit agreed and said that those two pacemen were hugely vital for Mumbai’s winning streak and dominating position this IPL.

“These two guys are our wicket-taking bowlers. They have come out really good for us. As and when we are required to get that breakthrough, they have always done that for us.”

But he also justified the rest given to them and further added that it was the need of the hour for both Boult and Bumrah.

“We certainly missed them today but it was important for us to manage their workload. They have been playing consistently and the travelling from Abu Dubai to Dubai and Sharjah doesn’t make it easier also.”
