Some positive news coming in for the Kolkata Knight Riders as their leading spinner Sunil Narine is cleared of suspected bowling allegation by an IPL committee.
The Trinidadian was reported for suspected bowling action by the umpires in the match against Kings XI Punjab. Had he got one more warning, he would have been banned from bowling in the IPL 2020. However, all is well for KKR currently as Sunil’s presence in the team gives them a boost in the middle overs.
“KKR requested for an official assessment of Narine’s action from the IPL Suspect Bowling Action Committee, submitting action footage in slow motion with back and side angles. The Committee carefully reviewed all the deliveries of action footage sent of Narine with the naked eye and has come to the conclusion that the elbow-bend appears to be within the range of permissible limits.” – Said an Official IPL Statement.
It would not be wrong to say that Sunil Narine really changed the way Kolkata Knight Riders played the game. He was really influential in both the seasons that Men in Purple won.
Although he is not the same bowler that he used to be after the change in his bowling action, he continues to be KKR’s star spinner.
Skipper Eoin Morgan said that although the mystery spinner is available to bowl, they are not in a hurry to bring him back and are ready to give him some time.
