As unusual as it sounds, the Chennai Super Kings are rooted at the bottom of the points table with just 3 wins in 10 matches. Now, this is not the team that we are used to. No matter what the conditions were, Dhoni’s team always made it to the top of the table.

But it is 2020 and anything seems to be happening this year. Although experience matters, the T20 format needs young blood and their hunger and passion for winning. The CSK squad this year seemed to old for the game this year and could not capitalize on powerplays and struggled in the death overs too.
Skipper MS Dhoni too realized this and sounded a bit ‘hopeless’ after their morale-hurting loss against the Rajasthan Royals. Coach Steven Fleming too admitted in an interview that the team was aware of the challenges it was going to face with an ageing squad. He also added that some of the top players of the team may have ‘run out of juice’.
Well, mathematically, Yes! So, if CSK wins all 4 of their remaining games and that too with considerable margins, there are chances of them qualifying for the playoffs. Not that it is happening for the first time, Mumbai and Hyderabad have found themselves in similar positions at certain times.
So, it is fair to conclude that every match from now is like a knock-out game for CSK and Dhoni’s men will have to play to the best of their limits to make it to the Top 4 in the IPL 2020.
