Rishab Pant and his rise in the last few years has been an absolute treat to watch. The love for the game, some young madness and a hell lot of hard work has made him achieve wonders in the last two series against the English and the Australian giants. From being an immature batsman and an average wicket-keeper to turning into a big match-winner for any team he plays for, It has been a great start to the year for the young Delhiite.
This is one big reason why Pant was handed over the captaincy of Delhi Capitals in spite of the presence of bug players like Steve Smith, R Ashwin, Rahane and so on.
This is what the young wicket-keeper batsman had to say on getting this big responsibility ahead of the IPL 2021:
“Delhi is where I grew up, and where my IPL journey began six years ago. To lead this team one day is a dream I’ve always harboured. And today, as that dream comes true, I feel humbled. I am truly grateful, especially to our team owners, who considered me capable enough for this role. With an amazing coaching staff, and a plethora of accomplished seniors around me, I can’t wait to give my absolute best for Delhi Capitals.”
Md. Kaif has High hopes In Pant
Former Indian cricketer Md. Kaif is all praises of the Pant and thinks that he would do the perfect job in absence of regular skipper Shreyas Iyer due to shoulder injury.
“Wishing a speedy recovery to @ShreyasIyer15who captained us in our dream run to the IPL final. All the best to our dilli ka kadak launda, @RishabhPant17. I’m sure captaincy will take his game to yet another level.”
