BCCI Announces Annual Contracts for Indian Women’s Team

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced annual contracts for the women’s cricket team on Wednesday, 19th of May. This year, as many as 19 members were handed over central contracts by the BCCI which is lesser than last year’s number of 22.

The top-grade has been kept the same with Indian T20 team captain Harmanpreet Kaur, vice-captain Smriti Mandhana and senior bowler Poonam Yadav being retained in Grade A, while ODI team’s skipper Mithali Raj along with all-rounder Jhulan Goswami, Deepti Sharma, Punam Raut, Rajeshwari Gayakwad, Shafali Verma, Radha Yadav, Shikha Pandey, Taniya Bhatia and Jemimah Rodrigues bagging a Grade B contract.

Young sensation Shafali Verma, who got her first annual contract last year, has been promoted to Grade B from C as have Punam Raut and Rajeshwari Gayakwad.

Meanwhile, players like Veda Krishnamurthy, Ekta Bisht, Anuja Patil and D Hemalatha have not got annual contracts for 2020-21.

Grade A  contracts (Rs 50 Lakhs): Harmanpreet Kaur, Smriti Mandhana and Poonam Yadav

Grade B contracts (Rs 30 Lakhs): Mithali Raj, Jhulan Goswami, Deepti Sharma, Punam Raut, Rajeshwari Gayakwad, Shafali Verma, Radha Yadav, Shikha Pandey, Taniya Bhatia, and Jemimah Rodrigues.

Grade C contracts (Rs 10 Lakhs): Mansi Joshi, Arundhati Reddy, Pooja Vastrakar, Harleen Deol, Priya Punia, and Richa Ghosh.
